1) What is a longitudinal wave? How does it differ from a transverse wave? Which type of wave is sound?
Longitudinal wave is a wave vibrating in the direction of
propagation
In a transverse wave the particle displacement is perpendicular to
the direction of wave propagation.
Difference btw Longitudinal & Transverse waves :-
Transverse waves travel well in solids, but not in fluids like
liquid or gas. Longitudinal waves include sound waves. They travel
through all states of matter because their medium particles move
parallel to the direction of the wave.
Sound wave is a Longitudinal wave !!
