What is the purpose of the transducer damping material and the matching layer?

What are the methods you use to determine how much a 3.5-MHz pulse will be attenuated after passing through 2 cm of soft tissue

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Answer 1: The purpose of the transducer damping material is to decrease the amount of reflection at the interface of piezoelectric crystal/system and the matching layer increase the transmission of the waves generated by the transducer and PZT system.

Answer 2: Using Ultrasonic Attenuation Estimate method we can determine the attenuation of a pulse passing through a soft tissue:

given,

pulse frequency = 3.5 MHz

soft tissue size = 2 cm

the formula of this method is:

Attenuation (in dB) equals to:

path length = tissue size (in cm) = 2

thus,

Anttenuatio (dB) = 0.5*3.5*2 = 3.5 dB

Mrs. Debbie Morgan is a 45-year-old female who works as a stocking clerk for a local home improvement store. While she was at work today a large box of metal rivets fell from a 20-ft.-high overhead shelf, striking her outstretched arm and knocking her to the ground. The ambulance personnel reported that she had lost quite a bit of blood at the accident scene and was “knocked out” when they arrived. To minimize further hemorrhage, the paramedics applied a pressure...

QUESTION 1 What material can we use to mask an implantation (control where implantation will occur) 1. Photoresist is the preferred mask since it is easiest to create and to remove, and as long as it is thick enough it is effective at blocking the implant when it is not needed. 2. A patterned metal film is the best mask since not only can it block an implant it can also help drain off the implanted charge. An oxide, nitride,...
