a spiral wire that conducts curent is on the plane of this page. out of the spiral, the magnetic field points towards the page. what is the direction of the current in the spiral?
a) clockwise
b) counter clockwise
c) out of the page
d) the magnetic field inside the spiral is 0

Answer #1

Since the spiral is coming out of the page thus we can use the right-hand thumb rule to determine the direction of magnetic field.

Stretch out the right hand. Place the thumb in the direction of the magnetic field and curl the fingers of the from the stretched position towards the palm. The direction of curl gives the direction of the current in the spiral. Thus from this law we can say that the current flows in the clockwise direction. Hence option A is correct.
