Answer #1

Some Cues proposed for sound source identification are listed below.

1) Doppler effect:- Doppler effect may be a cue for the perception of distance changes.

2) binaural and monaural cues: 2 ears detects the sound in case of binaural cue, and for monaural cue, only one ear detects the sound source.

3) spectral cues: vertical localisation of sound source. Overall the brain uses a variety of cues to determine the location of sound. Above mentioned cues are few important cues among them.

For testing, a reference sound source is used in an equipment room. The sound source that has a sound power level of 94.5 dB(A) can produce a steady-state sound pressure of 87 dB(A) due to the reverberant field only inside the room. Now, the existing equipment of this room generates a steady reverberant field of 83 dB(A). A source of sound is located at the center of two concentric spheres, parts of which are shown in the drawing. The source emits sound uniformly in all directions. On the spheres are drawn three small patches that may or may not have equal areas. However, the same sound power passes through each patch. The source produces 2.1 W of sound power, and the radii of the concentric spheres are rA = 0.50 m and rB = 1.2 m.(a) Determine...
