I want to find the perfect free throw shot in basketball. The average NBA player holds the ball 2.10 m above the floor as he releases the shot. The height of the hoop is 3.05 m about the floor and 4.19 m away from the player. Measurements from video of great players show that the most accurate free throw shooters launch the ball at a speed of 7.16 m/s as it leaves the player’s hand at an angle of 52.0° above the horizontal. Use physics to check this result by calculating the height the ball will be at when it gets to the hoop and comparing it to the hoop location. Show Your Work.
