For a bar magnet, the magnetic field lines point

A) always towards the magnet.

B) towards the South pole.

C) towards the North pole.

D) always away from the magnet.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The lines of magnetic field of a bar magnet always forms a closed loop around the bar magnet. By convention the lines of force start from the North pole and goes into the South Pole. This is outside the Bar magnet while inside the Bar magnet the lines of force travel from South to North Pole.

So we can conclude that The Magnetic Field lines point towards the South Pole of the Bar magnet .

(The Options are not exactly appropriately correct . Option B says " Towards the South pole" but are you referring to the South Pole of the Magnet or the Geographic South. Incase you are talking of the Geographic Poles then Option [c] will be right otherwise Option [B] is right)

Hope this Helps!
