Question

for a 20% strain find the corresponding stress value based on the mooney rivlin model

for a 20% strain find the corresponding stress value based on the mooney rivlin model

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Mooney-Rivlin model is a very popular modelling system in which the large strain nonlinear behavior of incompressible materials can be studied with large efficiency. We need to understand that Mooney-Rivlin models can not not give any special arrangement into material behavior.

In this the numerical values of coefficients resulting from the curves are fitted into FEA programs for use in mechanical analysis. Now to calculate the corresponding values of the stress at 20% strain we need a lt of propertis of the material which could not be found here .Although in different cases it varies between 30-40%.

Q3: Tension test was conducted on a mild steel rod having diameter 1.5 cm and length 20 cm. While applying a load of 10 kN, there will be an extension of 0.012 cm on a length of 20 cm. Maximum load carried by the rod was found to be 26 kN and the load beyond which stress is not proportional to strain was observed to be 11 kN. When the specimen breaks, the extension of the rod for 20 cm...
