A simple pendulum of length 4.19742 meters starts from rest and swings down from an unknown angle. When it is vertical, it smashes into a peg at the midpoint of its length. The pendulum then swings across to the other side and becomes exactly horizontal at its turnaround point. It then swings back to its original location.

Determine the time it takes to do so. Be as exact as possible.

Hint #1: Do not use the formula for the period of a small-angle pendulum. See the lab on this topic.

Hint #2: Use conservation of energy and trigonometry to determine the initial angle

A.) A simple pendulum is suspended from the ceiling by means of a string of length 2.10 m. Assume that there is no friction or air resistance. Suppose you were to release the pendulum from rest, starting from an angle of 44.3 degrees with respect to the vertical, as shown. What will be the speed of the pendulum at the instant it swings through its lowest point (that is, when it s momentarily hanging vertically)? B.) OK, once again we...

A simple pendulum of length L = 10.0 m is released from an angle of .400rad. Assume the pendulum swings with simple harmonic motion. c) Using conservation of energy(gravitational and kinetic), find the linear speed of the bob at its lowest point. d) If the linear speeds found in (b) and (c) were exactly the same, explain why. If they were different explain why.
