A m1 = 1.7 kg box is on a frictionless θ = 43 ∘ slope and is connected via a massless string over a pulley of mass M = 1.3 kg and radius R = 0.6 m to a hanging m2 = 9.3 kg weight. The coefficient of kinetic friction between the ramp and m1 is 0.2. The boxes are released from rest. Calculate the work done on m1 by kinetic friction as m2 drops by a distance of 1.7 meters. Use conservation of energy to find the speed of the boxes when m2 has dropped by 1.7 meters.
