The flow of fluid on a surface is an example of vector field. The vector field is represented by the velocity vector field of the fluid flow. If the fluid has net motion away from a point, we say it has a positive divergence, if it is net motion towards a point, we say it has a negative divergence and if it is is neither moving towards a point nor moving away from any point(net motion is zero) it has zero divergence.
