Quantum mechanics works very well at very small scales like atoms to molecules etc, but general relativity can only be applied to large scales, scaling from stars to galaxies.
One of the reasons why General relativity fails at quantum level is because quantum mechanics allows for super luminous interactions (faster than speed of light) as pointed out by the Bell's Inequality. This is impossible according to the general relativity since superluminous events are forbidden.
