Prior to the 20th century scientists saw space and time as distinct. After all, we can measure the distance between two points without making any reference to time, and we can speak of the amount of time that has passed between two events without making any reference to motion. However, in the special theory of relativity we do not think of space and time as distinct. Rather space and time are interwoven into a single continuum. Explain why this view follows from the fact that the speed of light is absolute.
