a) Describe in no more than 2 sentences a method to make incoherent light into both spatially and temporally coherent light.
b) I have a laser with a linewidth of 1nm. I shine the laser onto an object 10cm away from the beam splitter which is situated 5cm away from the holographic plate. What is the maximum distance, measured from the beam splitter, the holographic recording plate can be situated in order to successfully capture the hologram?
use filter to make light source monochromatic so that it will be temoporally coherent .
Use spatial filter assembly which is a combination of micro-objective and aperture to make the source spatial coherent.
Holography experiment is very sensitive to vibrations so first step is to control the vibrations,second step is for good hologram the intensity in object arm and reference arm should be sane so we can use filter in the path of reference arm so that intensity will be equal to object arm.
third step is distance from the beam splitter to object and distance between beam splitter to holographic plate should be same .here limitation is that distance from object to holographic plate is 5 cm so holographic plate will be placed at 8.66 cm
