Answer #1

An astronaut working outside his spacecraft remains attached by a rope because , the rope keeps astronaut safe from floating away in the space, as there is zero gravity in the space. So if the astronauts are not connected to the spacecrafts using the ropes, they would float away from the spacecrafts and would continue to do so because of zero gravity.

The astronaut discovers that the rope has come loose from the spacecraft, he should not pull the rope in such situations because the excess tension in the rope may lead to breakage of rope and as a result the astronaut will float away from the spaceship.
