Adjoining lengths of iron watermains are often connected with each other by means of a copper strip to ensure good electrical conductivity throughout the entire pipeline (a Canadian patent). After installation and before the pipe is covered with earth, the connection is carefully covered with an insulating type of paint. Is this sound practice? Explain.
