how to estimate the cost of the tank ?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

to estimate cost of tank

we should consider cost of material used & fabrication cost to manufacture it

material cost consist

cost of material used to construct shell, top &bottom

this is calculated in terms cost of plates

no. of plates required to construct tank is calculated

A.    total material cost = no. of plates used * cost per plate or sheet of material
B.Fabrication & erection cost

fabrication cost = no. of manpower * working hours per day*no. of days * cost per hour

C. if any rubber lining is used consier its cost

D. take profit margin 10% (assumed)

E. tansporation cost is 2%

tank cost = 1.12(A+B+C)

1.12 factor is came as we consider transportation & profit margin total 12% extra so total cost will be 112% that is 1.12 of product cost

tank cost = 1.12(material cost+labour cost+rubber lining cost)

The purchased cost of 1500 gal stainless steel tank in 1980 was $7000. The tank is spherical and the diameter of it is 6 ft. If the entire outer surface of the spherical tank is to be covered with 2 in. thickness of magnesia block, estimate the present total cost for the installed and insulated tank. The purchased cost of a 5-m3 stainless steel tank in 1995 was $10,900. The 2-m-diameter tank is cylindrical with a flat top and bottom. If the entire outer surface of the tank is to be covered with 0.05-m-thickness of magnesia block, estimate the current total cost for the installed and insulated tank. The 1995 cost for the 0.05-m-thick magnesia block was $40 per square meter while the labor for installing the insulation was $95 per square meter.

A Calculus instructor needs a model of a leaking tank for upcoming word problems. She decides to build an open-top rectangular tank using instructions for a fish tank online that is held together by duct tape. The length of the tank should be triple its width and its volume should be 5184 cubic inches. If plexiglass costs $4.30 per square foot and a roll of heavy-duty duct tape costs $5, estimate the dimensions of the tank to the nearest hundredths...

A rigid, well-insulated tank contains 100 kg of liquid water at 21°C. The tank is connected through a valve to a steam main where the pressure is 1 MPa. The valve is opened and steam enters the tank until the water temperatuere rises to 65 °C, at which time the valve is closed. It is determined that there are now 107.96 kg of water in the tank. Estimate the quality of steam in the main.

Estimate the compressed air tank volume required to store an amount of energy equivalent to one gallon of gasoline if the air will be stored at a pressure of 3000 psia. Assume slow (constant temperature) compression, and use the higher heating value (gross calorific value) for gasoline (a.k.a. "petrol"). Submit your answer in gallons (enter numerical value only without units).
