As the degree of polymerization increases, the molecular weight does which of the following?

- Increases

- Decreases

-Sinusoidal response

-Stays the same

Answer #1

Degree of polymerisation is the ratio of Number average molecular weight and the molecular weight of the monomer unit.

So As the Degree of polymerisation increases number average molecular weight increases, but the molecular weight of the monomer unit remains constant because the polymer chain is made up of same monomer units.

So as per given question:As the degree of polymerization increases, the molecular weight of monomer unit remains same but the number average molecular weight increases.
