Structural functionalism, or  functionalism, is "a frame for building theory which views society as a system which is complex and whose parts work togetherly to promote stability and solidarity".The approach watches at society through an orientation of macro-level , that is a wide focus on the structures of society which shape the society as a whole, and makes sure that the society has surrounded like organisms.

This approach watches both social functions and social structure.

Functionalism looks society as a whole in view of the function of its constituent part which is; norms, customs, traditions, and institutions
