Answer #1

Differential equations, which are equations that relate functions with their derivatives, and there are analytic methods to solve that use integration, as well as numerical integrator.

DEs are everywhere in our lives. Light can be described by a wave equation, and similarly quantum particles (in your computer, for instance) are also described by a [slightly different] wave equation. Anywhere where there is water flowing can be described by a DE. Aerodynamics, vibrations, propulsion, electronics, sprinklers, traffic jams, population growth and decay, image processing, machine vision, neural networks, weather, heat transfer, engine efficiency, climate change, structural integrity, nuclear weapons, artillery trajectory, solar cells, financial derivatives pricing.

Hello! So I'm doing an experiment for an upper division bio class and trying to figure out which statistical test (done in R) would be best for analyzing the kind of data I have. My experiment was tracking the behavior of hummingbirds to see if UV properties attract them to certain flowers. I carried it out using a UV light source attached to one feeder and no light attached to a second (only these two groups). The number of hummingbirds...

I'm just stuck on what to do my research topic question on. I'm interested in the field of the relationship between facial symmetry and perception, or maybe attraction/facial symmetry. I just can't focus in on a example question to carry out a research plan. Any suggestions or ideas is much appreciated. I'm doing this for my undergrad in psych so resources and sampling is limited. Something that can be easily carried out. Thank you

I am trying to figure out how to find the test statistic using Excel. I understand the formula- that I need to use parameter 'p' and 'normal distribution' ….z= sample proportion and minus the 'population portion' then we divide p*q and divide n -sample size. I understand how to populate the data in the formula. I just can't figure out how to solve this using Excel. (my only option with my class) I need step by step directions if possible....

I'm new to statistics and I'm working on a project where I'm basically trying to rig a coin toss. I have three groups and n = 50 tosses for each group: Control (24/50 success) vs treatment 1 (28/50 success) vs treatment 2 (30/50 success). Success = 1 and is for Heads, failure = 0 and is for tails. My problem is that I don't know how to analyze this data. Can you analyze this data completely and show me how...

You would like to start saving for your retirement and are trying to figure out how much to save. You estimate that you will need $425,000 per year for the 35 years you’ll be retired. In addition, you’d like to have an additional $60,000 in your fifth year of retirement to buy a boat. Assume that you plan to save an equal amount of money every year, starting next year for the 40 years you will be working (save in...
