There are many biological functions of proteins.

Some of these are :

1 . Catalytic function : many biochemical reactions in our body are catalysed by the enzymes which are proteinaceous in nature.

2. transport and storage : they help in transport of gases ( hemoglobin) and stores oxygen in muscle (myoglobin).

3. Structural and mechanical support : They help in maintaining the stricture eg. collagen.

4. Defense : they fight against infection and prevent blood loss

5. they help in generation and transmission of nerve impulses.
