Answer #1

The glass which is to be used for safety purposes must be incorporated in such a way that it must withstand higher stress, high temperatures. The ordinary glass components usually gets splattered into small pieces upon projected with fast moving objects or subjected to sudden temperature rise.

So we need to formulate the glass insuch a way by combining with more laminated glasses of both soft and hard glasses.Upon laminating the glass with polymers like polycarbonates gives higher strength for the glass. Thus formulated glass is termed as toughened glass. The laminating of glass with several polymer materials with thermoplastics implants more strength and used as a protecting medium. The purpose of laminating the annealed glass with several layers is that when subjected to sudden stress or temperature rises, they provide resistance and gets flattened without splattering. The other components which are to be maintained are same refractive index must be there inorder to make the glass transparent.

1) You have been asked to develop a walk-way made of glass across a deep canyon as a tourist attraction (think rip-off of the Havasupai Indians walk-way at the Grand Canyon). A supporting steel frame will be built so the glass simply has to support the weight of the morbidly obese Americans walking across it. Your task is to select the glass for the project. Here you want to discuss the potential unique hazards of using glass in this fashion....
