Chernobyl nuclear reactor disaster occured on 25-26 April 1986 in the No.4 light weight graphite moderator reactor at the chernobyl nuclear power plant near the now abandoned town of pripyat in northern ukrainian soviet socialist republic, soviet union. This event occured during a late-night safety test which simulated a station blackout power failure in the course of which safety systems were intentionally turned off.
It is not safe to visit the chernobyl as it results in the radoactive exposure. The plant is located near Pripyat river and the bio-accumulation of radioactivity in fish resulted in concentrations that in many cases were significantly above the guideline maximum levels of consumption.
