Hypothetical process path is something we use when the substances involved in any process don't have enough data. At such times we need to create a hypothetical process path (HPP). So that the calculations of enthalphy data becomes easy. HPP permits the available data to be used easily.

Steps involved in HPP

- We have a process simply going from initial state to final state, we need to break the process in series of steps.

And we need to calculate the enthalphy of each step and then sum it up to give the final enthalphy of the process.
