One mole of cis-ETHC-CHPr (g)in a cylinder with adjustable piston at 1 bar. what would be the maximum mole percentage of cis-ETHC- CHPr(g) that is at very high temperatures and 1 bar in cylinder? gas is ideal

Homework Answers

Answer #1

cis-ETHC-CHPr is an equilibirium reaction o Trans-ETHC-CHPr

Delta G for this equation is negeative above 300 K so above 300 K the reaction will be feasible in the forward direction.

Since Delta G = DeltaH - TDeltaS or DeltaG0 - RT lnK so with increase in K and T, Delta G will become more negative or more feasible the reaion would be

Now as the temeprature increases, K also increases as per the Arehenious equation.

So at very high T, Keq will be very high which means trans-ETHC-CHPr concentration will be very high so cis-ETHC-CHPr would be very low or zero.
