I am being tasked with converting a SRK equation of state to a cubic equation of state for a thermodynamics project. I dont want anyone to solve it for me but if someone could give me some tips to get me going in the right direction i would appreciate it, basically a methodology to approaching these types of problems is what im looking for.
A Equation of state (EOS) to an cubic equation state means converting the EOS (such as vanderwalls or SRK, etc) into a cubic form with respect to the volume of the system. Let us look at the example for vanderwalls state:
1) Write the EOS of Vanderwall given by:
2) Convert the system in terms of reduced pressure, volume and temperature
3) Now rewrite the EOS in terms of reduced terms:
4) Rearrange the equation in terms of reduced pressure, volume and temperature such that the cubic form with respect to reduced volume is obtained:
You can see that reduced volume is having cubic term.
Please follow the same steps with SRK equation of state or any other EOS of interest.
