vacuum filtration is a filtration technique used to separate the solid particles from the liquid.

It is faster than gravity filtration.

Following steps involved in Vacuum filtration.

  • Clamping of a flask with a Ring stand.
  • Put Buchner funnel with rubber adaptor.
  • Put a filter paper on the funnel.
  • Connect the flask with the vacuum source.
  • Wet the paper with a solvent.
  • Pour the mixture to be filtered on filter paper placed on the funnel.
  • Wash the cake on filter paper with a small amount of solvent.
  • Then Remove the vacuum source.
  • After removing Vacuum sources, Remove the filter paper and collect the solid.

In last step, vacuum must be turned off for removing of solid easily from filter paper.
