Uranium contains 92 protons and 143 neutrons.

Actual mass of U-235 = 235.04392994 amu

Total mass of nucleons= ( 92 * 1.0072649) + ( 143* 1.00866492)= 236.40851884 amu

Mass defect= ∆m= 236.90851884 - 235.04392994= 1.8645898994 amu= 3.096222181*10-27 kg

E = energy released= ∆m * C² = 2.79* 10-10 = 1.74 GeV
