Why are sulphates bad for humans when in high concentration in water, wastewater etc. ?
Ans :
Sulfates if present in water in high concentration can cause potential health hazards. Less exposure to it causes the laxative effect on human , but when the concentration is higher , it can cause catharsis in males.
Ingestion of large amounts of calcium or magnesium sulfates can lead to dehydration.
Children and senior citizens are much more prone to dehydration following diarrhea caused to sulfate intake.
These sulfates in water are harsh on skin and hair as well. They strip away all the oil from hair and skin causing the skin and hair to become dry and pale.
