Homework Answers

Answer #1

a) during allotropic transformation, no.of atoms in the material will not change as allotropes have different pattern of arrangement of atoms but no. of atoms in the material will remain same.

b)during allotropic transformation, properties like volume changes as different pattern arrangement have different packing fraction for example in case of iron having bcc and fcc having different properties.

c) isotopes are atome of same element which is having same protons but different no. of neutrons.

d) size of anion is larger than parent atom as extra electron will require orbital and further electrostatic repulsions make that electron away.

so, only statement a. is not correct
