The diffusion rate of caffeine.

I am investigating the rate of diffusion of caffeine in tea by extraction using water and ethyl acetate, I know the temperature and the volume of water, the mass of caffeine I extracted from tea. I was wondering which formula and how I calculate the rate of diffusion of caffeine.

Thanks

I did the Isolation of Caffeine from Tea Leaves experiement. starting marterial was 5g of tea leaves, 2 g of calcium carbonate powder and 50 mL of water were mixed well in 100-mL round bottom flask with condenser reflux. The filtrate was extracted with 10- mL portion of methylene chloride, and dry the product with anhydrous magnesium sulfate 1.can you please write what is the chemical reaction carried out in this experiment in detail please. any chemical equation? thanks!!

The distribution coefficient for caffeine in dichloromethane and water is 4.6 a. Assume that 0.100 g of caffeine are dissolved in 15 mL of water. The aqueous layer is extracted twice with 15 mL of dichloromethane. How much caffeine may be recovered from this extraction? b. Would the previous extraction be more efficient if the aqueous solution of caffeine (0.100 g dissolved in 15 mL of water) was extracted once with 30 mL of dichloromethane instead? Please provide step by...

So I did a experiment on extraction of caffeine. Here is the question, If your goal was to isolate as much caffeine from the aqueous layer as poassible, which of the two methods used in this lab would you use and why? We had 2 methods, first method was using 60 mL of CH2Cl2 to extract second method was using 20 mL of CH2Cl2 three times to extract (60 mL total). Now I know that the second method is better,...

Hi, I am currently working on "Thin Layer Chromatography" lab. I know retention formular is Rf= (Distance moved by compound) / (Distance moved by the mobile phase). listed below are my questions 1.What is the formula for the retention factor (Rf) for which a compound travels? options are Rf=x-y Rf=x+y Rf=x/y Rf= x EE y a. So, I am trying to perform a goodness of fit test on a set of data. The data consists of one thousand samples with values that range between 3.9 to 15.5. In the problem it is stated that this data could have either a gamma or normal distribution and I am meant to figure out which of these distributions it is closer to due to the results of two goodness of fit tests (one assuming gamma distribution and the other...

For an experiment I am trying to calculate the reducing sugar content as a percentage of the original weight of a sample of ripe bananas and am having some difficulty doing so. Some background info: First, I prepared a calibration curve of the reduction of DNS reagent by the reducing sugar glucose (absorbance vs. concentration of glucose in µg/mL) and obtained the equation y = 0.0024x - 0.0529. This equation will later be used to solve for the concentration of...
