Answer #1

Difference between the heat transfer coefficient and overall heat transfer coefficient

1.

Individual Heat Transfer Coefficient is used in heat transfer by convection systems. Overall Heat Transfer Coefficient is used in heat transfer phenomena consisting of conduction as well as convection systems.

2.

In convection, there is only one resistance so we can say that Individual Heat Transfer Coefficient used where there is single resistance to heat transfer surface whereas there are several resistances in series in conduction convection system so overall Heat Transfer Coefficient used where there is more than one resistance to heat transfer surface

3.

here U is overall heat transfer coefficient and h is individual heat transfer coefficient.
