When doing an adiabatic flash calculation for a continuous flow process where a liquid at high pressure is “flashed” to lower pressure to produce a mixture of gas and liquid you know:
Inlet: Temperature (T1), Pressure (P1), molar flowrate (F) and mole fractions (zi).
Outlet: Pressure (P2)
For this adiabatic flash:
a) Draw a picture and clearly label the unknown variables
b) Write down the equations (in terms of the above variables) that you would have to solve in order to determine the outlet conditions. Write the equations and list any assumptions you have to make. (do not try and solve the equations)
