What are tear streams? how do they work and why would you use them?
A tear streams is a stream which opens a loop.
It is not a recycle stream .
It is the stream that will update umtil two consecutive ilteration are within the tolerence limit or specified tolerence.
Work and why we used them
If the fractional conversions of reaction are known, and thre is no purge streams that exist, the flow rates of the species in the recycle streams can be calculated directly without iteration
Otherwise, the iterative calculation are necessary.
One of such solution technique is to tear one stream in the recycle loop, that is , to guess the variables of that stream.
Based on tear stream guesses, information is passed from unit to unit until new values of the variables of the tear stream are computed.
The calculations repeat until the convergence tolerances are satisfied.
