While at a friend’s house, you notice that he started a container, vegetable garden on his patio. When you ask about it, he seems pretty excited, but tells you that the plants don’t seem to be growing very well. He was hoping for better growth and hopes they produce a lot of veggies. He bought new containers, and filled them with soil from his backyard, planted the veggies, and placed them in the appropriate location.
How do you think these plants will do? Explain.
The plants that are planted in the new containers will have soil from his backyard and the plants will grow initially but will only attain short height. It is important to mention that potted plants require frequent watering, change of soil and input of fertilizer to provide the plant with the required amount of nourishment. Plants have stunted growth when the soil gets depleted of nutrients and requires to be added externally.
