Term Project
There exist many chances of exposure to toxic chemicals for workers
in many field of industries. Therefore, it is necessary to have a
general method to measure the low levels of personal exposure that
workers may receive to the diverse range of volatile gas used in
the laboratory, manufacturing facilities or general storage. As a
member of research group developing film type sensor, you are
making chamber to measure the response of the developed sensor. You
are asked to make a test chamber containing 100 ppm of Nitric acid
vapor. Based on the information given below, please calculate the
volume of nitric acid to be added. The sensor strip response was
found to be sensitive to moisture content. Therefore, you have to
calculate the moisture content inside of chamber.
Information
A. The volume of test changer = 1000 cm3
B. The nitric acid solution will be purchased from Sigma Aldrich.
(Indicate the product number of the solution you have chosen)
C. The moisture content of atmosphere on a day of test corresponds
to that of May 5 2015 and the temperature of 25 C.
Based on the above information and assuming that all of the nitric
acid will be evaporated inside of the chamber, calculate the volume
of nitric acid to be added and the moisture content inside of the
chamber.
There are two things before solving this question. First, it is a group project and is supposed to be solved by finding some experimental data which is not given in the question, like the moisture content on May 5 2015, which u need to find out, only after that you can go on to solve the question further. And the second thing there is also a need of a calibration chart to find out moisture content
Once you find out that, you should proceed as follows, try to understand what is volume of test changer is showing, there is no calibration chart is given in question, which should be given that would tell you the value of moisture content with function of volume changer.
Hope that helps!
