An ideal gas, contained in a piston-cylinder device, undergoes a polytropic exponent n=k, the ratio of specific heats. Show that this process is adiabatic

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Answer - we know from first law of thermodynamics Q=U+W.

If we put the value of W and U for the polytropic process and put the value of n=Cp/Cv then we get Q=0 means adiabatic process.
