The saturated steam tables and/or superheated steam tables are two types of steam tables. In the saturated steam tables, the given pieces of information are about the two-phase region while in the superheated tables given informations are about the vapor phase only.
We have to first know where is our point of study lies.
(1) If our point of study lies in the vapor phase, we will use the superheated steam tables.
(2) If our point of study lies in between liquid-vapor equilibrium phase, then we have to use the saturated steam table.
For example, if we have found that the saturated pressure of water is 101.325 kPa. Now, we want to study water at the slightly lower pressure than the saturated pressure vapor pressure, we are shifting our point to vapor side. So, we have to look into the supersaturated steam table.
