During assembly, an automobile body (after painting) passes through a radiantoven to cure and harden the finish. The oven has the form of a long, rectangular box. The dimensions of the oven are 95 ft long, 10 ft high, and 10 ft wide. The ends are open as the cars pass through continuously. The heated oven surfaces (the top andboth sides) are maintained uniformly at 600°F and the initial temperature of the car is 80°F. The surface area of the car is 142 ft2. Estimatethe initialrate of heat transfer to the car in Btu/hr.

For simplicity, assume:(1) the heated surfaces and the car are blackbodies.(2) the car passes through the center of the oven. (3) radiant energy omitted by the car would be intercepted equally by the floor or one of the three heating surfaces.
