Are you motivated by intrinsic or extrinsic factors? What are those factors?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

First let us understand the meaning of intrinsic or extrinsic factors.

Intrinsic factors are those which originate within a human such as Deep routed desire, will power, challenge, Curiosity, control, fantasy, recognition, social status etc.

Extrinsic Factors are those stimuli which come from outside of the human. It is controlled by the outside source.

Such motivation factors are Employee of the month award, bonus, incentives, increments etc.

I am motivated by extrinsic factor. if i am at a job and working very hard because of intrinsic factors and not getting any extrinsic factor such as bonus, increment, incentives etc then I will be de-motivated and my productivity will be affected. Fire is within but it should be lit.

Generally people are not aware about the intrinsic factors. If someone is making aware about them then they are motivated.

So extrinsic factors are the biggest motivator for me.
