Describe the process of manually crashing a project network.

Describe the process of manually crashing a project network.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Crashing of a project network means shortening the project duration by reducing the time of one of the critical project activity to less than it's normal activity time. Project crashing is directly related to cost. Since, the duration is to be reduced, more expenditures are nade on labour and other resources hence the cost increases. Hence, they crashing and cost has a inverse relationship.

However, process of manual crashing of a project network is cumbersome.it is basically a trial and error approach useful for demonstrating the process of crashing. In larger networks, it often becomes unmanageable with more than one critical network/activity. As we try to crash one critical network by some units, the other network needs to be reduced too. Hence, the whole crashing process becomes a lot of work.
