Communications: It is very important that the employees are communicated to when disaster strikes as they are the company’s most important asset. It’s important that the persons accountable for managing the recuperation know the protocol for communicating to employees.

Emergency response and activities: This is set to establish the following:

  • Who, when and how to be contacted
  • Immediate actions that must be taken in the event of certain occurrences
  • Recovery steps and procedures
  • Critical business operations Recovery operations

Recovery steps and procedures: This is to identify the critical departments and areas of each department that are crucial to a company’s ability to get back up and running with minimal impact on the business.

Critical business operations: Key functions without which an organisation cannot operate or remain practicable are critical business operations. If a critical business function is interrupted, a firm could suffer serious financial, legal, or other damages or penalties. Earliest possible restoration of such functions after a disruption is the main objective of DRP.

Recovery operations: Recovery operations are the aftermath of natural or man-made disasters which is directly related to the availability of local resources and the infrastructure and operational ability to deliver assistance from outside the affected region
