The emission scandal proved that Volkswagen did not care about the correct business ethics that makes a sustainable business. They valued short term profit margins over reliability and trust. The leadership of Martin Winkertorn was autocratic and the focus was on business greed by selling more cars in the USA. The Code of conduct which was clearly listed down was not followed and was there just for the show. With regards to Social Responsibility the company disappointed by causing harm to the environment in the US by diesel emissions.
