Describe each of the following training delivery methods, and provide one benefit and one challenge for each method: Face-to-face, instructor-led classroom training Simulation-based training On-the-job/Real-time training Online/E-learning
a)Face - to - face: It is the traditional way of training where one receives training by an instructor who is physically present at the moment
++ : Face-to-face trainings are more engaging and hence easier to focus resulting in higher effectiveness
-- : It is difficult to scale up. One trainer can only be present at one location and cater to only a limited number of students
b)Instructor-led classroom training: It is a method of training a group of learners where an instructor delivers the content directly to them
++ : Instructors can adopt the content and customize it based on the standing of the group
-- : Instructor led trainings are expensive - it involves travel, stay etc of the instructor and a set up for the classroom
c)Simulation based training - It involves artificial representation of real life scenerio for training purpose. The students can interact with the environment to get a first hand understanding of how the real situations will look like.
++ : simulations allow students to purposely carry out high-risk task / experiments within a safe environment without the dangers and consequences of actual environment
-- : Simulations may not always create the exact replica of actual environment, and may build a faulty sense of overconfidence
d)On the job training - Training at a place while doing the work is called on-the job training. No seperate training modules are designed and employees are expected to learn the aspects of the work while actually doing it (under supervision during the initial phases)
++ : on-the job learining is quick, economical and effective
-- : It is a rushed process and may lead to accidents /consequences
d)Online Learning- This method of learning involves accessing content in digital format over internet / software using computer
++ : cost efficient way of learning and highly scaleable, since unlimited students can possibly access it at the same time
-- : It is very passive and lack of enggagement may make it boring and in-effective
