Functional medicine treats the individual rather than the disease by understanding the biochemical individuality of patient. Functional medicine attempts to find the root cause of each and every disease rather than simply making a diagnosis and determining the drug or surgery this shows that functional medicine is highly personalized and include detailed analysis of the particular individual genetic makeup.

Complementary and alternative medicine provide the functional medicine with the required tool to personalize the medical therapy.
