As a consumer, reflect on the significance, or lack thereof, of the “case against Apple”.

Answer #1

While being a consumer I initially had some concerns with the decisions by Apple to slow down their older devices but after being aware of tree entire case, I can say that while the lawsuit is valid for the grievances that were caused to the users, the lawsuit itself holds no promise because what Apple did, without an opt-out policy for their customers was both shady and unethical, to say the least. But were they wrong in doing so? Would people really have been okay with their devices having battery issues and unexpected shutdown? I do not think so. What Apple did, was a double-edged sword that did prove to be effective but brought Apple down in the process.

To gain some appreciation of the biological importance--or lack thereof--of the uncertainty principle, compare the uncertainty in position of an electron and a mobile E. coli cell (1 pg). Both have speeds known to within 1.0 μm/s. The uncertainty in the position of the electron is 58 m (far larger than the size of an atom, which means it is impossible to speak of the "trajectory" of the electron). What is the uncertainty in the position of the E. coli...

Apple Mountain Pie Company makes apple pie filling for the consumer market. They are the only firm in the town of Walnut Hills and they, therefore, face an upward sloping labor supply curve: Es = 20w − 120, where E is the number of workers hired each hour and w is the hourly wage rate. Thus, Apple Mountain faces an upward sloped marginal cost of labor curve of MCe = 6 + 0.1E. For simplicity, assume a perfectly elastic labor...

An increase in the rate of consumer savings is frequently tied to a lack of confidence in the economy and is said to be an indicator of a recessional tendency in the economy. The organic apple market is perfectly competitive, with apples currently selling at $22 per case. A study commissioned by the organic apple association shows that the short-run total cost of production for a typical producer is TC = 8,000 + 0.02q2, where q is the number of cases sold per year. Calculate the short-run profit maximizing quantity (number of cases) for the typical producer.
