The database architecture decides the design of its system. If excel is used for implementing the database, a 2-tier database architecture can be used.

A 2-tier architecture has an application layer between the client and the DBMS. This application layer communicates with the client and processes his request on the DBMS. Implementation of this architecture will be feasible when using excel software. The resultant system will not be complex for the users. The layers can be segregated by different worksheets of excel. The DBMS and application layer can be excel sheets that are password protected. The user will have access to only the client layer.
