What is the function of a pilot study in process improvement and innovation?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The process of improvement and innovation will have a concept or an idea. The pilot study will act as a fundamental phase in understanding the feasibility of that concept or an idea before they can think about having it on a large scale. It is not a hypothesis testing study but it is used to understand the feasibility and also the required modifications in the improvement or innovation process. A pilot study is not used when we have to identify a meaningful effect size estimate for planning subsequent studies. This cannot be done due to the imprecision inherent in data from small samples. This study basically guides the people involved in improvement and innovation by informing what is right and what is wrong before they move ahead with the next steps in the process.
