USEFULNESS/ IMPORTANCE OF Z SCORES:

  • Z score is also known as the standard score is a statistical tool.
  • It helps in finding the probability of the score which occurs in the normal distribution.
  • The comparison between two scores, each from different distributions can be easily done.
  • The scores in the normal distribution are converted/ standardized into the Z scores, thus converting the normal distribution into standard normal distribution.
  • It helps in finding whether the score in the distribution is equal to mean, below the mean or above the mean.
  • The distance of the score from the actual mean can also be determined using Z scores.
