Why is technical complexity greatest with continuous-process technology and how does technical complexity affect organizational structure?

In a continuous process technology the involvement of human resources is quite less and the entre chain is driven by machines and automated software so it is bound to happen that the technical complexity would increase. As the employees are not involved hence it becomes mandatory to feed a specific output for a particular input and hence technical complexity increases which has both pros and cons.

Technical complexity definitely affects organizational structure in some way or the other. It results in increased hierarchical chain i.e. more levels are introduced to manage the same work, the complexity in the structure increases and the flow of information also increases as far as the hierarchical structure is concerned. The control becomes even more distributed which has its own ill effects and positives as well.
