Question

Define discrete and continuous metrics, and give your own original example of each.

Define discrete and continuous metrics, and give your own original example of each.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Discrete metrics can result in particular values based on formulae that are dependent on discrete data which can be either numeric viz. 1,2 3 etc. or categorical viz. value for gender - male, female.

Example of discrete metrics include number of products sold in a particular season.

Continuous metrics are built using continuous data ranges which can take infinite values in the range. For eg. all the values in decimals from 1 to 2 can be considered as continuous data.

Example of continuous metrics include the probability of sales volume to be higher than x units.
